Lately I’m been building the puzzles of loosing weight. We all heard of the so-called “loose weight fast” or “loose weight easy” which is one of the most common lines used by drink products w/ L-carnitine. I first research what makes us “fat“, then it all boils down to one common denominator. Carbs, or Carbohydrates makes us fat if you eat too much of it.

Now let’s see how to get rid of it the natural way, here’s some facts I found out over the net.

It’s All about the Calories!

1. Total calorie needs are determined based on a number of factors, including basal metabolic rate, gender, age, muscle mass, exercise, and voluntary movement.

 

- Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the number of calories that you need at rest for those functions that are not under your voluntary control. This includes your heart rate, digestion, respiration, maintenance of blood pressure, and body temperature.

 

- BMR is responsible in most of us for approximately 60%–75% of the calories we need per day.

 

- Your muscle mass determines your BMR, so men have a higher BMR than women because men have more lean muscle mass.

 

- Another source of calorie burning is the thermic effect of food, which means the calories it takes to digest your food. Depending on what foods you eat, this makes up about 10%–30% of your total energy expenditure.

 

- Exercise can augment or facilitate this dietary-induced thermogenesis.

 

2. How many calories do we require?

 

- Total energy intake is the number of calories you take in, composed of protein, fat, and carbohydrate.

 

- Your total energy expenditure is determined by your BMR, the thermic effect of food, and your physical activity.

 

- To estimate your basal energy expenditure: Calculate your ideal body weight by using the Hamwi equation; then multiply your ideal body weight by 10 to get the calories you need per day for your BMR.

 

- You have to add back into this the amount of calories you are burning through purposeful activity and through nonexercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT).

 

3. Most people outeat their exercise.

 

- If you walk 3 miles, you burn around 300 calories, but if you eat a 450-calorie cookie, you outeat your exercise.

 

- In general, you should not account for the amount of calories you are taking in during average physical activity.

 

4. How do you add exercise into your caloric needs?

 

- Exercise and movement can be quantified by adding about 30% to your BMR if you are sedentary.

 

- If you are unbelievably active, you could double your BMR calories.

 

- If you fall in the middle, you can add about 50% to your basal energy needs.

 

5. The best calorie-burning activity is whatever you enjoy and will be able to sustain.

 

- The benefits of regular exercise far exceed controlling weight.

 

- The biggest benefit can come to people who are currently doing nothing; they get the greatest blood pressure lowering effect just from starting any activity.

 

- Keep in mind that you need to lift weights to maintain functional lean mass.

 

- It takes burning 3500 calories to lose 1 pound of body fat.

 

- To lose 1 pound of body fat, at 100 calories per mile, you have to walk 35 miles.

 

- The challenge is sustaining an activity, enjoying it, and making it consistent.

 

6. Frequently asked questions.

 

- Can I rev up my basal energy needs? Yes: The more functional lean mass you add, the higher your basal metabolic rate.

 

- The Hamwi equation is for adults, but what are standards for children? Children require more energy than adults per pound of body weight. The best advice will come from your pediatrician.

 

- What are the best calorie-burning exercises? Whatever you enjoy!

 

- What are the best activities for someone who is wheelchair bound or on crutches? They can stay fit with physical therapy.

A friend of mine watching CNN informed me a terrible event that happened in Sendai, Japan.  I was shocked and watched the news at Fox News Los Angeles and seeing the disasters aftermath.

I’m a big fan of old movies, and I mean very, very old movies. From 1950′s like “The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)” to the 70′s like “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, or Star Wars IV”, 80′s or 90′s (well, 90′s is considerably old now).

But I’m getting to the point, when I saw the trailer for the movie “Red”, dang man! Old geezer’s like Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, and John Gavin Malkovich in one action packed (with spices of humor along the way) movie.

Coming this October, Bruce Willis is finally old enough to play a retiree in Red. What’s more hilarious, he’s playing a retired CIA assassin. That’s not enough for you? He’s playing a bored retired CIA assassin who recruits his old hitman buddies for a mission in an adaptation of the Warren Ellis comic.

We sometimes strangle ourselves to the carousel routines we have everyday that we scream inside our minds in despair. Work, family and even time are against us… but did you realize that the enemy is you?

It no surprise really, our eyes are focused outside our body that we can’t see our face and/or our entire body for that matter. We actually need mirrors to see ourselves as a whole, that’s why we are bound to have a partner in life to be our “mirrors”. And the simplest way to look inside of you is to close your eyes, and reflect… you’ll soon realized “you” will be talking to you. “What is the problem?”

Now let’s get back to what I’ve said that the problem is “you”. Maybe you don’t manage your time efficiently, time is indeed gold but for me they are priceless and much expensive than diamonds.

You can’t refund “time” spent unlike when we refund payments from Paypal. So spend it wisely.

Procrastination, there are two types of procrastination for me: The good procrastination and the bad procrastination. Just like good (constructive criticism) and bad (destructive criticism) they can be a guide for your own leverage. A loaded gun can either save you or kill you.

Laziness: If you’re a person… of course you have a brain.

Use it, strengthen your brain just how you strengthen your muscles. In this way, there’s no room for laziness as your brain will happily work with you if you have use it.

It’s been hours now that Aweber.com is down, I was playing around with a custom aweber form when I found out from WarriorForum regarding the issue.

Iron Man 2 is scheduled to be in theaters May 7, this is a good movie to watch now that my birthday is coming on May 11 and hopefully the theaters won’t be full as I don’t want to sit or stand on stairway.

I believe Robert Downey Jr. made a great job in doing the character of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the first Iron Man movie. With Ms. Paltrov they made a good couple too, the chemistry is great in the first movie.

I just hope this movie will last 3 hours because I love to munch 2-3 bucket of popcorn and 1-2 good `ol ketchup, mayo, mustard hotdog jumbo deluxe. And oh, don’t forget the V-cuts…

In battling and minimizing (hopefuly prevention and treatment as I don’t want to have surgery) the symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or CTS, I’m now using ergonomic thingies for my computer. I’ve bought 1 CD-R King ergonomic keyboard and 1 Mouse Pad with wrist rest (Ambidextrous).

Yesterday, since I lost internet again and can’t sleep because it was “scorching hot” I decided to take my daughter Vanessa to the hospital for a quick visit. My wife agreed to make a quick visit since we don’t like the check up made by a general physician (family physician) in MariCris last Sunday. The lady doctor (family physician) concluded to give us Cefalexin, Muculytic (penbroxsol if I remember correctly) and anti-histhamine. Take note “Kasama mo na bibilin yun after ng consultation, and the boxes looked local“.
My daughter, Vanessa Jane is suffering from LBM lately and wasn’t able to sleep well at night. Her eyes are deep, and very restless at night.

We arrived at La salle 2:30pm but ironically we weren’t able to catch the pediatrician that was referred to me since she left 2pm. Since we are already in the hospital we decided to peek another pediatrician available. Dr. Melchoir Mathias (if I remember his name’s spelling correctly, I’m too lazy to go down and check his prescription for his name) did a good job, and oddly Vanessa was nice to him. They go along pretty well, I’d say.

Long story short, the doctor advises to finish up all the vitamins Vanessa is consuming and stick to Ped-Zinc and some Baccilus (Vial-type treatment) that she can easily swallow (in a liquid type-water taste form) that can help her disperse the bacteria inside her stomach. Stop the medicine that family physician gave, and do water therapy instead.

Watch out for the heat guys and check your computer’s ventilation. My video card blew four capacitors already.

At first, I hear a blowing sound (like one of those electrical popping sound) which I thought I blew a fuse from my AVR or UPS. To my wonder my computer didn’t shut off, my computer continued working.

I think after a week, I hear again the popping sound yet my computer continued to work. The next day, this is when my tradegy starts. At that time I thought it was my PSU (power supply unit) that got busted so I rushed to the nearest pc store to buy one. When I got home and test it, my computer didn’t boot. I started to troubleshoot, and I found out that it’s my video card with four busted capacitors.

Dogs are very curious animals and as omnivores and natural scavengers, can get into and eat just about anything. However, there are many toxic substances found in your home that could potentially kill your dog. The following is a list of ten common household substances that you should make sure to keep out of your dog’s reach.

1.) Antifreeze: Many people do not realize it, but common antifreeze kills many pets each year. It smells and tastes very sweet to your dog and is very appealing to him. Ethylene glycol is toxic however, and each winter, many animals are killed by it. Symptoms of toxicity include seizures, vomiting, stumbling and lethargy leading to kidney failure. Make sure to keep your antifreeze out of your dog’s reach. If you suspect that your dog has ingested antifreeze, take your dog to the veterinarian immediately.

2.) Chocolate: Chocolate contains a substance called the obromine which is toxic to dogs. Baking chocolate and dark chocolate is especially dangerous. While it usually takes a somewhat large amount of chocolate to kill a dog, poisoning and death does occur with smaller amounts ingested. Signs of chocolate poisoning include vomiting, diarrhea, increased urination, and increased activity. This can progress to seizures and unusual heart rhythms. Call your veterinarian immediately if you suspect your dog has eaten chocolate.

3.) Bleach: As you might imagine, household bleach is toxic to dogs. Keep all products containing bleach out of your dog’s reach. Symptoms of bleach poisoning include drooling, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Do NOT induce vomiting if you suspect your dog has ingested bleach and contact your veterinarian immediately.

4.) Tylenol: As little as two regular strength Tylenol tablets can kill a small dog. Dogs lack the proper liver enzymes to break down acetaminophen. Signs of toxicity include drooling, lethargy, and abdominal pain. If you suspect your dog has ingested Tylenol, call your veterinarian immediately.

5.) Watch Batteries: If your dog ingests a watch battery, it can cause a potentially fatal ulceration in the stomach within 12 hours. All other alkaline batteries are toxic to dogs as well. Symptoms of toxicity include drooling, lack of appetite, vomiting, and lethargy. If you suspect your dog has ingested a watch battery, contact your vet immediately.

6.) Moth Balls: Moth balls are very dangerous to dogs. They contain an insecticide that causes central nervous system excitement and seizures. When metabolized, ingestion of moth balls can lead to liver failure. Symptoms of poisoning by moth balls include vomiting and seizures. If your dog has consumed moth balls, do NOT induce vomiting. Seek veterinary care immediately.

7.) Fabric Softeners and other detergents: All sorts of household detergents are toxic to dogs at one level or another, but fabric softeners fall into the highly toxic category. Signs of toxicity include vomiting, lethargy, burns to the mouth, drooling, muscle weakness, and even coma. Do NOT induce vomiting if your dog has ingested any detergent. Contact your veterinarian immediately.

8.) Mouthwash: Mouthwash can contain boric acid which is highly toxic to dogs. Symptoms of poisoning by mouthwash include vomiting, drooling, seizures, and coma. Last December, wherein the weather was very “unexpected”. It should be “stable cold” because it’s supposed to be winter season but its not. We have fast change of weather from humid, to windy nights up to suprise raining. The result, my daughter almost had pneumonia thanks to the “Salbutamol + Nebulizer” treatment it didn’t go worse or I would be having a very very bad start for a new year.

Salbultamol mules aren’t costly, around 20-25 pesos per mule. They come in 5 mules per pack, 100-125 pesos per pack. So about $2.17 – $2.71 per pack.

MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao is likely to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on March 13 after agreeing to a proposal from promoter Bob Arum on Friday.

Arum presented “what he thought was the best proposal he can bring” during a two-hour breakfast meeting with Pacquiao in Manila, said Michael Koncz, an adviser of the Philippine boxing idol.

“Manny has some additional requirements, requests, which Arum didn’t think was a problem,” Koncz said. “The requests of Manny were so realistic that Arum doesn’t feel it’s a problem and it’s pretty much a done deal.”

He said the contract still needs “fine tuning,” declining to elaborate.

“We all believe that it will be done,” he said.

In an interview with GMA television, Pacquiao said, “March 13 is OK.”

“The difference between Floyd and others I have fought is that Floyd makes a lot of trash talk that should not be imitated by young people,” he said.

Arum could not be reached for comment.

Koncz, who is in charge of Pacquiao’s boxing promotion company in Nevada, said Pacquiao is “very comfortable” with the date.

Pacquiao is running for a congressional seat in May 2010 elections and official campaigning won’t start before April.

If the bout goes ahead, it will match two men regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighters.

Boxing fans have been looking forward to a super fight between Pacquiao and the undefeated Mayweather after the Filipino champion defeated Miguel Cotto last month.

The March 13 date comes four months after the Cotto fight _ a shorter period of time than the six months after Pacquiao defeated Ricky Hatton. But Koncz said it will be enough time for Pacquiao to get back in shape.

“Nobody knows his body better than Manny,” he said. “If Manny feels that that’s plenty of time to rest and recover, then you know, he has to do what he feels is right.”

He said Pacquiao “cannot train for more than seven weeks.”

If the fight is made, there would likely be a Jan. 11 press conference in New York to announce it. The bout could be the richest ever, assuming pay-per-view projections are accurate.

Representatives of the Superdome in New Orleans and the new Dallas Cowboys’ stadium have expressed interest in hosting the fight, as has the MGM Grand hotel-casino in Las Vegas, where the fighters have fought their biggest fights. There is also a proposal for a 30,000-seat temporary stadium on the Las Vegas Strip across from the Wynn resort.

Oddsmakers are already taking bets on the fight, with most making Mayweather a slight favorite.

I just hope I won’t lost internet connection tonight, no more flooding, and worst of all no more tragic moment.

Super Typhoon “Lupit” will enter the Philippines area of responsibility tonight according to weather forecaster. After super typhoon ondoy, pepeng, melor, and quedan.

William Kamkwamba was born in Malawia country plagued by AIDS and poverty. In 2002 William was forced to drop out of school because his family could not afford the $80 dollar a year tuition.

However he continued to learn and to dream. (I guess cornered by super boredom having nothing to do in his village and noticed there’s always wind in Malawi so an idea struck his head) Armed with determination and a few old science textbooks(actually he borrowed the books in a library which have no guide on how to build windmill to generate electricity) William embarked on a daring plan to build a windmill that could bring his family the electricity only two percent of Malawians can afford. Actually, he figured out on his own.

Took two months to build his first windmill. Anyways, this is a very inspiring story which reminded me also of the saying…

“Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day, Teach a man how to fish and you will feed him for lifetime”

…which in a parallel idea of the programmers curse

Need for speed was never about street racing till NFS underground series came out.

Need for speed 1, need for speed 2, need for speed 3, NFS high stakes, NFS Porsche unleashed and NFS hot pursuit 2 were all TRACK RACING GAMES in the start which were all awesome games.

NFS underground came out which is based on street racing. NFS shift bought back the cockpit view from the old nfs games and TRACK RACING-based. NFS Most Wanted was the only good street racing game that EA created in my opinion. NFS Carbon do sucks, I play it just because I wanted to know the ending story line.

I will definitely try this game for sure.

1. Do Not Interfere In Others’ Business Unless Asked:

This thinking denies the existence of individuality and consequently the existence of God.. God has created each one of us in a unique way. No two human beings can think or act in exactly the same way. All men or women act the way they do because God within them prompts them that way. Mind your own business and you will keep your peace.

2. Forgive And Forget:

This is the most powerful aid to peace of mind. We often develop ill feelings inside our heart for the person who insults us or harms us. We nurture grievances. This in turn results in loss of sleep, development of stomach ulcers, and high blood pressure. This insult or injury was done once, but nourishing of grievance goes on forever by constantly remembering it. Get over this bad habit. Life is too short to waste in such trifles. Forgive,20Forget, and march on. Love flourishes in giving and forgiving.

3. Do Not Crave For Recognition:

This world is full of selfish people. They seldom praise anybody without selfish motives. They may praise you today because you are in power, but no sooner than you are powerless, they will forget your achievement and will start finding faults in you. Why do you wish to kill yourse lf in striving for their recognition? Their recognition is not worth the aggravation. Do your duties ethically and sincerely.

4. Do Not Be Jealous:

We all have experienced how jealousy can disturb our peace of mind. You know that you work harder than your colleagues in the office, but sometimes they get promotions; you do not. You started a business several years ago, but you are not as successful as your neighbor whose business is only one year old. There are several examples like these in everyday life. Should you be jealous? No. Remember everybody’s life is shaped by his/her destiny, which has now become his/her reality. If you are destined to be rich, nothing in the world can stop you. If you are not so destined, no one can help you either. Nothing will be gained by blaming others for your misfortune. Jealousy will not get you anywhere; it will only take away your peace of mind.

5. Change Yourself According To The Environment:

If you try to change the environment single-handedly, the chances are you will fail. Instead, change yourself to suit your environment. As you do this, even the environment, which has been unfriendly to you, will mysteriously change and seem congenial and harmonious.

6. Endure What Cannot Be Cured:

This is the best way to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. Every day we face numerous inconveniences, ailments, irritations, and accidents that are beyond our control. If we cannot control them or change them, we must learn to put up with these things. We must learn to endure them cheerfully. Believe in yourself and you will gain in terms of patience, inner strength and will power.

7. Do Not Bite Off More Than You Can Chew:

This maxim needs to be remembered constantly. We often tend to take more responsibilities than we are capable of carrying out. This is done to satisfy our ego. Know your limitations. . Why take on additional loads that may create more worries? You cannot gain peace of mind by expanding your external activities. Reduce your material engagements and spend time in prayer, introspection and meditation. This will reduce those thoughts in your mind that make you restless. Uncluttered mind will produce greater peace of mind.

8. Meditate Regularly:

Meditation calms the mind and gets rid of disturbing thoughts. This is the highest state of peace of mind. Try and experience it yourself. If you meditate earnestly for half an hour everyday, your mind will tend to become peaceful during the remaining twenty-three and half-hours. Your mind will not be easily disturbed as it was before. You would benefit by gradually increasing the period of daily meditation. You may think that this will interfere with your daily work. On the contrary, this will increase your efficiency and you will be able to produce better results in less time.

9. Never Leave The Mind Vacant:

An empty mind is the devil’s workshop. All evil actions start in the vacant mind. Keep your mind occupied in something positive, something worthwhile. Actively follow a hobby. Do something that holds your interest. You must decide what you value more: money or peace of mind. Your hobby, like social work or religious work, may not always earn you more money, but you will have a sense of fulfillment and achievement. Even when you are resting physically, occupy yourself in healthy reading or mental chanting of God’s name.

10. Do Not Procrastinate And Never Regret:

Do not waste time in protracted wondering ” Should I or shouldn’t I?” Days, weeks, months, and years may be wasted in that futile mental debating. You can never plan enough because you can never anticipate all future happenings. Value your time and do the things that need to be done. It does not matter if you fail the first time. You can learn from your mistakes and succeed the next time. Sitting back and worrying will lead to nothing. Learn from your mistakes, but do not brood over the past. DO NOT REGRET. Whatever happened was destined to happen only that way. Why cry over spilt milk?
