As I looked back and think, there was also a storm that took many lives. The storm was named “Milenyo” or “Typhoon Xangsane”. As at this moment I research and the year was 2006, and guess what? It also occured September 25 and unleashed disaster on September 26.

But the difference is the eye of the disaster hits hard on southern parts of the Philippines, tropical storm “Milenyo” intensifies the following places namely Samer, Bicol, Legazpi City and many more.

LEGAZPI CITY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2006 (STAR) A tropical storm was headed for Bicol yesterday, prompting authorities to raise a storm alert throughout the region and the nearby islands in the Visayas.

Weather forecasters said tropical storm “Milenyo” will bring heavy rains and wind gusts of up to 85 kph before making landfall tomorrow.

The islands of Samar, Dinagat, Leyte, Biliran and Siargao in the Visayas were also placed on storm alert.

Coastal waters will be rough and extremely dangerous, and residents were advised to seek higher ground because of big waves.

Those living in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes were alerted to the possibility of flash floods and landslides.

Milenyo will veer westward before making landfall over Aurora province tomorrow.

It will then cut across central Luzon and exit over the South China Sea.

In Bicol, some 343 passengers in the ports of Masbate, Matnog and Tabaco were stranded after Milenyo intensified and threatened Samar and other nearby Visayan islands.

Capt. Rodolfo Isorina, Coast Guard commander for Bicol, said 253 passengers were stranded in Masbate port, including 15 trucks, two small cars and five vessels, while another 44 passengers were stuck at Matnog port in Sorsogon, including eight trucks, seven small cars one passenger bus and one vessel.

Another 45 passengers were stranded as well as one truck, two small cars and five vessels at the Tabaco Port in Albay, he added.

Isorina said that the different Coast Guard commanders were closely monitoring the situation and have not allowed vessels to leave port.

As of 11 a.m. yesterday, Milenyo was 220 kilometers east of Borongan in Eastern Samar, with maximum sustained center winds of 85 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 100 kph. The tropical storm is moving northwest at seven kph.

Placed under storm signal No. 1 are Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Masbate, and Ticao Island, the Leyte provinces, and the islands of Biliran, Camotes, Dinagat and Siargao.

The Samar provinces were placed under tropical storm signal No. 2.

Tropical Storm “Ondoy” must be a close relative of “Milenyo” picking up the same date (month and day). I still remember last friday when “Onday” creeps at night time. Mild rains around 5:30 to 6:00 then throughout the night, September 26 Ondoy finally unleashes its havoc with no rest throughout the day. Almost the same as Tropical Storm “Milenyo”.

Whatever you may also think of this “parallel situations”, one thing is certain for me that this would not happened. If the trees are still in the mountains near Marikina and Antipolo, where the storm struck very hard that caused this life-taking floods. Affected areas and still up to now where people are still getting rescued: Marikina, Cainta, Rizal, Antipolo, Pasig

Some parts that I have found out are Buendia, V.Mapa (mostly alongside the LRT-2 train railway). Also in some parts of Paranaque city.

I’ve also heard that here in Cavite, the path to the metro which is Aguinaldo Hi-way have flooded areas too. I know SM Bacoor/ Bacoor areas will not be missed as the place have terrible drainage system up to Imus to Anabu where we used to live. I do remember and also have experience our rented house in Anabu II-B Regatta Subdivision where our street is the only flooded area in that subdivision. Damn, you wouldn’t like it because cleaning afterwards is very, very tedious.

Here’s a reminder of the tropical storm “Milenyo”…

Really weird indeed. Coincidence, a new weather cycle developing, or a sign/reminder from the above, I do not know. I found out about this yesterday, and someone pointed out that if it is a cycle, the next one will be on Sept. “2012″… 2012!!
